Going to LavaCon?

The LavaCon Conference is an annual event on professional development. This year's focus is on how to develop, manage, and publish digital content that enhances the customer experience, reduces production costs, and promotes your online brand. The conference will be held Sept. 29–Oct. 2 in San Diego, California.

Jack Molisani, the conference organizer, has spoken at several STC events, including some of our local chapter meetings. This year, he has created a special code for our friends and members. If you want to attend the conference, use CHISTC when registering to get $50 off the registration fee.

Please see the official conference site for more information about the event.

STC Summit Remix & Annual Networking Meeting

Please join us on Tuesday, June 15, for the final event of the 2009-2010 STC Chicago program year, which will be our annual mix-and-mingle networking event and happy hour, starting at 6 p.m. CDT.

A new feature of this year’s event is a special Summit Remix, at which chapter members who attended the recent Technical Communication Summit in Dallas will provide brief recaps of their favorite or most useful part of the annual conference. If you wanted to attend the Summit but could not go this year, or if you are curious about the Summit and what it might offer you in future years, you can hear from those of us who have been there.

This year’s networking event will be at Houlihan’s restaurant and bar at 550 W. Touhy Ave. in Park Ridge (at Northwest Highway). Houlihan’s is in the recently redeveloped Uptown section of Park Ridge, kitty-corner from the historic Pickwick Theater and a short walk from the Metra station, with plenty of free parking in the neighborhood.

For more information, please visit the chapter website.
